Our Story

Jonahline's Story

We met on Bumble, talked on WhatsApp for a month before we actually met, and from the moment we finally did, we never really stopped seeing each other.

What started as weekend plans quickly became our favorite routine, and somewhere along the way, without even noticing, we fell completely in love.

Our first date was on January 31st, 2024 at 7 Caldos, a random traditional spot I had been at just days before with friends so naturally, it felt like the perfect place to bring a stranger from Bumble. We shared tortillas con chorizo, ceviche, and a few beers, and somehow it all just clicked. One stop later at Adra, a couple more drinks in, we had our first kiss, and that was kind of it for us.

I’ll admit, I was a little scared at first. I knew Jonah was supposed to leave eventually, and falling in love felt like a risky decision… but we took the chance anyway. And somehow, that “temporary” plan turned into something permanent because he never left… and now he never will.

We knew things were getting serious when our worlds started blending. First, Sarah and Lisa came to visit (hi girls), then Danny and Tena made the trip to meet me and Guatemala, then the friends came to visit also. But the real turning point? When Sarah met my mom and friends, that sealed the deal, no going back after that.

And then it became even more real when I visited Chazy for the first time. Coming from Guatemala City (which is… very loud), I couldn’t believe how quiet and peaceful it was and I absolutely loved it. It felt like stepping into a completely different rhythm of life, one that somehow also felt like home.

Jonah proposed at the top of a volcano (yes, an actual volcano and yes, the hike was worth it). It was thoughtful, beautiful, and perfectly us. He even made sure there were photos and videos so we can relive that moment forever.

At the end of the day, what we want is simple: a life filled with travel, good food, chocolate chip cookies and choco bananos, long walks, and as much time with our families as we can get.

And somehow, it all started with a Bumble match and a plate of tortillas con chorizo. It almost never happened, just because he had something about Texas that gave me the ick on his profile, I'm glad I swiped right!
